My work is about chemistry and the tiniest building blocks that make up our world. I’m interested in exploring the miniscule, unseen chemistry of our bodies- recreating those tiny connections on a massive scale, inserting them into the context of our built environment. How does something so small, invisible to the human eye, start changes in cells that
create changes in the body resulting in large scale changes in our personal lives: the start of a
disease, the creation of life, the end of a life. Undoubtedly, I have been influenced by my husband, a PHD chemist and research professor at the University Of Florida College Of Medicine. In our life together we explore the strange place where science and art meet. We have two children together, a real life experiment and symbol of art and science together.
Public Art- I have been commissioned by Orange County (Orlando) to create a work symbolizing imaginative play that will be installed in Young Pine Park, a new park to house Orlando’s first inclusive playground. This sculpture will be installed in late 2015. In January of 2015 installed the public exhibition Casting Justice exhibit that addresses the problem of human trafficking within the United States and globally in Tampa, Florida. This exhibition, which includes 10 life sized figure sculptures and digital media elements, was unveiled in Gainesville, FL this year and is installed at Davis Island and at the Federal Courthouse in Tampa where some of the most notorious cases have been tried. This series will be moved to Miami in May. castingjustice.org.
